Money Unit

My first graders are studying money right now.  To help them connect their learning to real life, we discussed the ways we can make and spend money.  Then my students wrote a short story of earning or spending money.  They recorded their story using Educreations and posted it on their Kidblog.

They are also practicing counting coins.  Today they chose an amount to show in as many different ways as possible.  They used Piccollage app to create a poster and post it on their Kidblog.

I believe in using real coins for studying money.  I don't like using worksheets to practice counting coins just because printed coins look so different from real ones.   iPad is a perfect tool to record and share their learning.
